Everyone Loves You… Once You Leave Them arrived on February 21, which is also the band’s debut with Pure Noise Records. This release touches on so many different emotions and ways to twist and turn you, all I can say is….WOW!

The first release off of Amity Affliction’s new album "Soak Me In Bleach" is an emotional run, with the melodic piano intro falling prey to the heavy hitting main sections of the song. Its accompanying video has the guys performing the track in the woods in an autumn setting.  I do love the variations between tracks. It seems to tell a better story when songs don’t collide into each other. From the eerie introduction to the album with “Coffin" to the climatic, ending song, and personally my favorite “Catatonia” this album tramples over you.

Now with that being said, there are a few other tracks to discuss. The multiple personality - like songwriting may confuse some fans, but that’s part of the genre-blending generation of musicians that actually excites me about the new music coming out in 2020. The Amity Affliction is taking the lead with this album. Songs like “All I Do I Sink,” “Baltimore Rain,” and “Aloneliness” illustrates TAA’s versatility and willingness to step out of the box, and open up their fan base to a wider demographic. This is what being a creative and a true artist is all about. Push the envelope as far as you can.

Then there’s The Amity Affliction’s roots, which they didn’t leave behind with the tracks “All My Friends Are Dead,” “Soak Me In Bleach” and “Catatonia." These songs define metalcore in my opinion. “Forever” is in a category all on it’s own. It’s got a bittersweet ambiance, and there’s a definite “festival shoutout” melody, where I can imagine fans singing along to the main lyrics.

The only way this album can be defined would be “A gut wrenching, soulfully twisted piece of art.  It illustrates the loneliness, depression, and anxious states of  relationships. The progression of life and death are explained in a way that only The Amity Affliction could do. Beautiful yet haunting. Screams to the souls of the listeners.”

Overall, this album was well put together and allows the hardcore fans and new fans alike to blend togther to make a solid base. There can be so much more to be said about this release, but let the fans immerse themselves, and build their own opinion. The Amity Affliction has raised the bar once again, and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for the scene in the rest of 2020. Great job guys!!
