Review by John Sylvia

Boston Rock Radio

When I received the link for this review it came along with a message saying, “Not sure if it’s up your alley.” This made me leary of what I was about to listen to. Well, it turned out to be right up my alley and if you’re a fan of classic metal bands, like Saxon or Judas Priest, I believe it will be up your alley too.

Then I read the band’s bio and it made sense to me, the guitarist, John Adams and vocalist, Jeff Vandenberghe have been writing and performing together since 1982, a time that this kind of hard rock and metal was prevalent and oh so good. Drummer, Donnie Bragg is said to play with a “Bonham-like style” and this is an accurate comparison. Bassist, Ray Soliz came to band in 2010 and in my opinion, this combination of musicians, in a word, works...and works well.

Love and War fits into the genres of melodic hard rock and heavy metal. They cite their influences as U.F.O., Michael Schenker, Van Halen, and Scorpions. Guitarist, John Adams is quoted as saying, "We love what we are doing because it comes from the heart, while we showcase our style and creativity together through music as we look forward to sharing it with our loyal fans.”

The advanced tracks that were released and that I was fortunate enough to listen to were:

   1.        We All Fall Down

   2.        Mercenary Man

   3.        Final Destination

   4.        Edge of the World

When the full album is released, it will contain nine songs. I strongly recommend checking these guys out.
