Starset 'Divisions' Album Review by John Sylvia

Fearless Records

Release Date: September 13, 2019

Album Review by John Sylvia, Boston Rock Radio

I don’t really like to compare the material of one band to another’s because I believe that it takes away from them their unique identity, but sometimes it’s the easiest way to provide a description. That being said, I believe that if you enjoy the music of bands like Maroon 5, you will enjoy this very creative concept album, Divisions, by Starset.

This thirteen track album takes you on a journey of, as the opening track describes, “A Brief History Of The Future.” The futuristic plotline is reminiscent of such motion pictures as Total Recall or Terminator. I say this only because that is where my mind kept going to. The music itself has, to this listener’s ear, an enjoyable combination of Pop and Techno with undertones of Hard Rock. The vocals of frontman, Dustin Bates, are quite pleasant to hear. It’s obvious that a lot of effort and creativity went into the development of this album. I would recommend giving it a listen.

Divisions by Starset will be available on Fearless Records as of September 13, 2019. Also, there is a very cinematic video on YouTube for the song “Manifest.” (Watch it HERE.)  You can find Starset on tour during the months of September and October all across the US. Check them out.
