If you’re a fan of Modern Metal or any Metal for that matter, I think you’ll enjoy the hard driving sound of Texas 223. They are a band out of Lubbock TX, this is also a place where my son lives. So now there are two things down there that I like very much. The lineup is comprised of, Brittan Church (lead vocals / guitar), Chad Russell (lead guitar / vocals), Benjamin Villalobos (drums), and Kilton Westbrook (bass).

The songs average about five minutes each and rock hard from start to finish. They have the feel of a locomotive that is building up power, to full run away, may go off of the tracks speed. I am not a musician, so I listen with the ear of a music lover and fan, but to me, I hear the influences of Hard Rock, Hardcore, and Speed Metal. The vocals vary from traditional Hard Rock to being downright guttural at times. As a whole, it works and every piece fits, but I found myself especially digging the drum work. It’s very fast paced and a nice driving force behind the rest of a very talented group.

I would definitely suggest giving this band a listen. I thoroughly enjoyed each and every track, even streamed it through my Jeep’s system when I went out for a drive. I’ll personally be looking out for more from Texas 223.
