Tulip is:

Ashleigh Semkiw

Colin Parrish

Brandon White

Ryan Claxton

If you think of Texas based metal, any metalhead worth their salt knows what bands come to mind. But deep in the heart of this southwestern state, who would have thought such an illustrious symphonic metal band could come shining through? Tulip is a brand new creation having formed in September of 2018.

Each of the musicians bring their own personal experiences to Tulip through their past endeavors. Ashleigh sang professional opera. Brandon performed with ONI throughout Europe alongside the likes of Children of Bodom and Lamb Of God. Ryan is a session musician in the USA and Canada and Colin has performed in multiple recordings and live shows. Together, the musicians have conjured something different in what sounds to me like a blend of jazz fusion and symphonic metal.

With songs like "Total" and "Unconditional" you get the feel of something more upbeat, at least, more so than what I am used to listening to. I can imagine this sounds killer live. My favorite track is "Perseverance," especially that drumming intro. I like the message behind the song as well, picking yourself up after going through hell and pushing through.

Tulip are touring along with Evergrey. That kind of combination will make for a different experience. No pits in this world but stay and let their music flow through you.
