As of late, it seems Texas has become quite a hotbed of heavy metal music growth. Texas, throughout its history, has always gone big. After all, it was the birthplace of Pantera. I have never had the pleasure of venturing to that state but seeing the ongoing growth of the Texas metal scene certainly puts a smile on my face.

Overt Enemy originate from Mission, TexasThey formed in 2013 and Possession is their follow up to their debut EP Inception, which I highly recommend you venture to Bandcamp to check out. Citing influences such as SepulturaMegadethMastodonCannibal Corpse, and Lamb of God, Overt Enemy actually started their musical journey as a Slayer tribute before venturing into creating their own style of thrash.

With extensive gigging in their home state they have perfected their love of thrash metal and are ready to rip it up in the pit. With their latest single "Possession" you hear unabashed vigor and vitality and a youthful passion in their collective talent. My guess is they are phenomenal live performers and will keep the door open for thrash metal to flourish and thrive ever more.

I look forward to their album release on August 9th and highly recommended it for those who prefer their thrash on the harder and harsher side.
