Review By Tammy Carbonetto, Music Journalist

Boston Rock Radio

When rock was just rock music and that’s all I knew because I was all of 8. That is what this album brings me back to. Janet is a kick-ass rocker woman and alongside Justin James there is no stopping this duo! The powerful openers to the album, ‘Your Place In The Sun” and “Assassinate” give you a good start of the range of emotion and grit that has yet to come throughout the rest of the album. This album also includes her first and maybe only recorded guitar solo, but I guess we’ll find out in the future on that note!

The album gets you invested with “the feels” but in a badass way through the highs and lows, with some sly punches to the gut. Like, yes we have emotions and they can be scary, but Janet is not going to let that stop her. She’s going to make you work for it and nothing will hold her down! Case in point on a sweet “let me break it down for you” song, “A Way To Your Heart.”

There are many lyrical hooks that will keep you singing in your head after the first play, you might even jump in on the second round of your first listen. Again, the headphones listening got me; there’s some very interesting plays in there with tech fun. “Flame Thrower” is the only logical way to end this album, so throw on your most metal boots, some (or all of) the black eyeliner, check your attitude at the door, and insist to the guard that you need it, and follow me through an album of grit, badassery, and emotions.

It’s out May 31st. Give a listen!
