Review by Allyson Kingsley, Music Journalist

Boston Rock Radio

The Texas born thrash metal quartet known as Overt Enemy blast their goods through upcoming album PossessionThe artists are drummer Jaime Ayala, dual guitarists/vocalists Leo Ortiz and Rob Hahn, and bassist Laura “Slayerella” Ortiz. They created waves in their metal scene with debut EP   as well as a spot in the horror film The Blood Tapes. What you will love about Possession is how they progress logically and gloriously through a plethora of riffs that are alternately melodic, percussive and thrashing.

Paying honor to the masters of thrash metal is always a beautiful thing and Overt Enemy’s cover of Slayer's “At Dawn They Sleep” was done well. They immediately immerse you with borderline speed metal riffs with “Possession” and “Pray for Death” as well as vocals that are very visceral, angry and expressive. “Blood God” has a familiar sinister groove aka “Skeletons of Society."

Overt Enemy have a lot of talent and know how to craft variation across this album. Possession should be treasured by explorers of thrash's nether realms.
