“Everlasting Fall”

Song/Video Review by Allyson Kingsley, Music Journalist

Boston Rock Radio

From the beautiful land of Finland, Wolfheart describes themselves as “winter metal” and their current album Constellation of the Black Light absolutely captivated me. Wolfheart are an enchanting and creative mix of atmospheric, doom, black and melodic metal. They are currently touring with Children of Bodom and Swallow the Sun. A live video was released for their song “Everlasting Fall.” Before I go into the video review take a look at some of the lyrics:

   “Desolate is the land

    No leaves have fallen

    Burnt branches pierce the sky

    Eroded and bleak

    Last snow has fallen

Frozen rain descends from the sky

    Veil of winter in white

    Like an everlasting fall

    Delays the arrival

    Winds whisper a voiceless call

    For winter

    Like an everlasting fall

    Decelerate the final

    Last winter for us all”

I'm guessing not a lot of people enjoy the season of late Fall into early Winter as I do but it really is a peaceful time of the year even as much as it harkens the “death” of the crops and leaves. The early onset of Winter, in my eyes, is a very likeness to cresting over into old age, knowing that you don't have a lot of time left. As depressing as it sounds, in the background is a sort of peacefulness and serenity of which Winter brings when all activity seems to cease.

Wolheart's video of “Everlasting Fall” begins in black and white with the band getting ready to go on stage. Upon the start of the song, the video captures the scene in color as they perform onstage. The song performed live is phenomenal; each musician in their own right are very talented musicians. I was amazed by the guitarists’ fingers flying across their frets at warp speeds, always a work of art. Wolfheart enchants you.
