      More of that traditional heavy metal from the UK that I adore. Dethonator have been on the map for quite some time and are set to release part one of a double album. The lineup is Tris Lineker (vocals, guitar), Johnny Mo Armstrong (drums), Adz Lineker (bass, growls), and Henry Brooks (guitar, keyboard, backing vocals). Race Against the Sun, Part One is delivered with imperious power that is breathtaking. This is probably not good to drive to as you may acquire a speeding ticket.

       

      The beginning riffs of “When Lucifer Fell” sounds like a call to a gathering of metalheads and simply puts a chill down my spine. 100 percent badass. I love the serpentine, monstrous rhythms of “Burial Ground” and “Ulflag.” “The Hangman” has a dark feel to it and a great story line to the lyrics, kind of reminds me of Iced Earth’s style. The fretwork on “Terror By Night” is a bit different than the other songs and I am not a guitar genius so I cannot pinpoint why but it has a potent chemical balance with the vocals.

       

      The entirety is pure fist-pumping metal that sounds fast, fresh and addictive. Dethonator deliver impressive songs, a solid metal musical performance and strong, clear, majestic vocals.
