Nonpoint “X” August 24, 2018

August 24, 2018

By: Tammy Carbonetto, Music Journalist

Boston Rock Radio

Nonpoint is:

Elias Soriano - Lead Vocals

Robb Rivera - Drums

Rasheed Thomas - Guitar/Backing Vocals

Adam Woloszyn - Bass

BC Kochmit - Lead Guitar/Backing Vocals

After a bit of a well deserved and surely needed hiatus, Nonpoint has delivered what is looking to be a heavy handed, rasping snap of reality on your dinner plates. They deliver, album after album and “X” (Ten) might be the most badass yet. A quintessential reflection of the days we live in and how everything is a virtual calamity and how it is all contradicted, the first single dropped “Chaos and Earthquakes” begs you to pull out your game face. You can see their official video here. If you’re not moving in some sort of way, we need to talk. Sick pounding drum beats from Robb Rivera lead into grinding guitar solos. Nonpoint’s voice, Elias Soriano has more energy than any person I’ve ever seen and you can only imagine he’s bouncing all over the studio while belting out the songs. “Chaos and Earthquakes” is currently just under 1 million streams on Spotify. Yeah, already! Go listen there and order yours: CD/merch/VIP/other cool stuff.

Next up to be released was “Dodge Your Destiny” and I hope you’re ready for the lyrical ninja on a 3 ½ minute tongue lashing.  Wait, wait, wait… this breakdown is the ILLEST and you’d never expect it! Bro… it breaks down twice with a chill Spanish vibe bringing in the bongos and maracas. I have no other words, you just have to listen!

The final song released is a more melodic, dark, jarring ballad. “Fix This” still has your heavy kicks, mixed with a maniacal laughing Elias, and an almost demonic overlay of backup vocals who I can presume would be Rasheed Thomas. If you’re not hearing that in your car speakers, trust me, put on some headphones or earbuds. You need to appreciate the full effect! This is an entirely relatable song that you can get lost in with the lyrics or the music itself.

Nonpoint has just started their tour for “X” and will be playing their new tunes and mixing it up with some older things as usual. What you can expect from a live show is 100% all the time with everything. Every single member gives their all and still will come to hang out and converse with fans, and sign autographs after the show. If you haven’t seen them live yet, you will get a ticket and see them this cycle. It’s not a suggestion, it’s a must do.
