Don’t you just love it when great musicians get together for side projects? Some of my favorite rock side projects have been Velvet Revolver, Temple of the Dog, A Perfect Circle, and of course any one of Jack White’s million projects. I view these as a sort of bonus to life’s sometimes mondane lulls in between releases. It’s like coming home and finding a package you don’t remember ordering from Amazon. It’s a wonderful thing with usually great outcomes. (I love it when musicians get bored). Like how George Lynch and Corey Glover got together for this super group called Ultraphonix.

I’m not sure that Lynch and Glover were bored when they formed the 5 member package that is Ultraphonix but they are both in the midst of many other happenings in both their lives. Corey Glover is currently touring with Living Colour as well as celebrating his 20th anniversary of his first solo album “Hymns.” Lynch is now playing some upcoming shows with Lynch Mob, continued work with ESP guitars, and many other projects. Ultraphonix is rounded off with Pancho Tomaselli from War and Philm on Bass and Chris Moore on Drums.

All of this talent shows in Ultraphonix’s first single, “Walk Run Crawl” off of their upcoming album Original Human Music. Due to come out in August, the single comes to us in a post apocalyptic space type video. Opening you hear Lynch, playing a warped sounding guitar riff. Pancho and Chris Moore unbox a killer rhythm. Corey Glover’s demanding, unique and multi range voice unwrap the complete package.

The music video matches the songs’ message well with a “wake up people” type of vibe while Corey Glover glares at you through the screen as if subtly scolding you. The message doesn’t surprise me as Glover is known for his almost soap box type messages. The video features a trip through space as the group plays valiantly while the ship seems to be hurdling out of control.

Waiting until August 3rd for the next shipment to arrive from this talented group of veteran musicians won't be easy. But I assure you, we will not be disappointed with the deliveries in store.
