Madison Rising's, Battered Not Broken album that is on the horizon for release is a must-buy. As a whole the album tells you a story. In the music scene, that is hard to come by these days. Each song has it's own story and begs your attention for the next song to bring your musical journey full circle. The album has 11 tracks and I wish there was more!

From the opening, “Blood Red Sun”, to the closing song, “Currents”, you feel every emotion and if you're already a fan you know that many of their songs are relatable for soldiers. This album simply does not stop there. As a first time listener to Madison Rising, you hear that, you feel the patriotism, but every song is engineered to pull your heartstrings, and run with all of your emotions. In a song, the listener looks for a resolution, the songs that give you the that ROCK, the ones that don't necessarily have their own resolution, keeps your ear to the next, where you find more to the story.

Highlights! Let's run them down... If I had to pick 3 singles, for me they would be, “Dangerous”, “Heaven's Seas”, and “Currents”. Four, four singles... I have to add in “Madeline”, because that is a song I'd throw on repeat forever, or at least my personal favorite! Either way, give that a listen. Guitar solos throughout have incredible range and whether it is a fast pace or a smooth hit to your soul, they keep your head moving. Lyrics. The lyrical content is a beautiful array: powerful with meaning, that tells you “this is happening”, yet they are also meaningful and thoughtful where the listener can portray the story laid out in front of them or see their own selves.

A few songs have some very interesting endings. Again, just begging you to keep on with the album. Upon first listening, I was digging the first 3 songs and was committed to seeing the story unfold from there.

More times than I care to admit did the songs throw chills down my arms. “Coming Round Again” makes you want to get up again and try. What a soothing voice Rio has, and while he can be gruff and absolutely rock it, it is still quite melodic. “Why Don't You Hear Me”, you just know there is no perceived resolution by the song title, you follow along the sadness and imagine the scenario being played into your ears. Listen to this album in your headphones. There are just some things you will miss over the stereo!

Overall, the album will hit you with hard rock, melodies, change-ups and twists and some interesting song endings. Then there are the thoughts I had... “Was that a piano? Chimes? Violin?!” Oh yeah, whether or not those actual things are in there, buy the album and you'll hear exactly what I mean.

Thank you, Nina McCarthy for trusting me with this! It was certainly a pleasure to listen to.  MR gained a new fan and incredibly awesome to be able to write up!
