Soldiers of Solace

We Are Immortal

Album Review by Tammy Carbonetto, Music Journalist

Boston Rock Radio

Soldiers of Solace is…

Ron Therrien - Bass Guitar

Jeff Fahy - Lead Guitar

Jason Longo - Vocals

Francesco Daniele - Drums

Luis Cubille - Rhythm Guitar

It’s coming and it’s going to lift you up and rock your face off on January 26, 2018!  The long awaited debut album from Soldiers of Solace, “We Are Immortal.”  Sitting and listening to this album I was just smiling in pure wonderment. SoS is here, ready for the fight, and they will not back down! Our vocal master, Jason Longo, brings a smooth, gritty rasp (yeah, I know it’s like polar opposites, but listen and you’ll hear it too) to the lyrics that are hard hitting and very soul touching. The melodies are powerful and Jason’s voice carries it to another level. His voice is reminiscent of Disturbed’s lead singer, David Draiman, and yet so very different.

Music with a purpose - to be uplifting, bringing a higher recognition of self and awareness of others. I’ve had the privilege of seeing SoS twice in CT at The Webster Theater. Each member brings his own separate energy to the stage and as a whole it is empowering to watch and to feel. From Francesco on the drums, who is an absolute drumming animal; bringing it forward to our guitarists Jeff and Luis who feel the notes they grind out of their guitars, to Ron who is jamming his bass and Longo who is our musical minister, pumping his fist, arms spread up in the air and emoting every verse.

“We Are Immortal” is your next heavy metal rockin’ album purchase. Soldiers of Solace fans will hear a few they have already come to know and love, such as “Rude Awakening” and “Cold as a Stone.”  A couple new faves are definitely “We Are Immortal, the breakdown straight up gave me chills. The middle of the album takes a bit of a heavy, slower pace while still pounding through your soul.  “Walk Tall” is a little something of a ballad, an unexpected gift in the middle. I know their music personally, as I’ve been following them for over a year. I have watched them bloom - wait a minute, need something more sturdy and badass… transcend. I have watched them transcend into something unique and I was still astonished at the messages in the album, and the little bits of unexpected vocal and musical fun. Impressive and superbly put together! Go get you some Soldiers of Solace!

Peace, Love, & Metal!!!
