Nemesis Records

Album review by Allyson Kingsley Music Journalist with Boston Rock Radio

From the heartland of the USA, Oklahoma City hails Cosmic Wool with their self-titled full release. They formed in 2013 and feature brothers Rado Romo and Nevada Romo (both formerly with Anti-Mortem) and Nevada also plays with Texas Hippie Coalition. Joined by Drew Williams (guitar, keyboard) and drummer Tom Frizzell, they are a truly unique sounding quartet that are noted for their energetic live shows. It's hard to pinpoint their sound as they are definitively original. Kind of psychedelic rock, a bit stoner/sludge, just perfectly different.

“Hole for My Head" has a bluesy groove that emits a soulful vitality. “Moonstone," with its exceptionally badass bass and drumming, has a distinct 70s rock feel.  Listen to “I Met a Girl" which lends an air of eccentric arrangement and if I'm not mistaken, a taste of 70s Motown influence. I really dig “Nina Cherry”...Rado’s vocal work reminds me of Jim Morrison's crooning.

Whether this style of music is your type or not I give massive credit to Cosmic Wool charting a wild and rugged course that is entirely their own. Creativity is the heart of music after all.

Stay tuned for a full interview by Nina.
