Get Possessed

Album review by Allyson Kingsley Music Journalist with Boston Rock Radio

I'll start this review with a dream that I had once of being in some strange club that was decorated richly with a mix of steampunk, industrial and horror decor and filled to max capacity with people dressed in various Halloween, goth and Norwegian black metal garb. Badass place except the dream was totally silent. I think I have finally found the perfect album to go with that dream.

Polkadot Cadaver’s latest release Get Possessed is an interdimensional gateway to architects of a new sound. They are phenomenal in their creativity and cannot be pigeonholed into one particular genre. Rather they span genres from song to song and bring a lot of fantastical elements to the table. “Robot Assisted Suicide" has industrial leanings while “Stewards of a Syphilitic Emperor” has hardcore/punk flavor. The nebulous compositions are sonic touchstones of unrelenting ingenuity.

The members are Todd Smith (vocals/ guitar/keyboard), Jason Stepp (guitar/keyboard/programming/cello), Brian White (bass), and John Ensminger (drums/percussion). They formed in 2007 by members of the Maryland based Dog Fashion.Disco and have shared stages with Wednesday 13 (❤), Vampires Everywhere, Korpiklaani, and Wayne Static among others.

If you want an experience in sound palettes or just some badass voodoo shit to get lost in, give them a listen. Their music is not just a job but an art form. Brilliant. 🤘
