Love on the Road

Release:  12/18/17

Lion's Pride Music

Album review by Allyson Kingsley Music Journalist with Boston Rock Radio

This right here is right up my alley. A treat from Athens, Greece, Silked & Stained release their album Love on the Road on December 18th via Lion's Pride Music.  The members are Bill Tsaklidis (vocalist/keyboardist), Tony Gavalas (guitarist/backing vocalist), Tommy Fotiadis (bassist) and Orpheus Lazz (drummer).

They formed in 2013, but without knowing this you would think it was something from the prime of the late 80s/early 90s. The entire album has a delicious throwback feel to the 80s hard rock/Glam scene. With hats tipped to Dokken or even Alice Cooper, this album captures a timeframe of when music was downright fun, when it was about letting loose with friends, indulging in debauchery, a time when guitar rock kicked ass and the songs were not all political garbage (Please stop).

Tony and Tommy display excellent fingerwork on the guitar and bass respectively.  Bill’s voice is lilting and lyrical, very sultry. You can feel in your bones how much of a good time Orpheus has while hammering on his set.  Check out the song “Bombshell,” well deserving of being cranked the fuck up. “Rockstar" is another badass untamed track.

For those of you who can't get enough of the melodic hard rock scene, this should be delved into; same for those too young to have lived through the initial wave but simply enjoy catchy rock. I would live to see them come perform in the US.
