Lost in the Black Divide

Pure Steel Records

Album review by Allyson Kingsley Music Journalist with Boston Rock Radio

San Francisco based band Space Vacation release Lost in the Black Divide by Pure Steel Records which is a travel through the hardrock road. The members are Kiyoshi Morgan (guitarist, ex-Vicious Rumors), Scott Shapiro (vocalist), Steve Hays (bassist), Warren Ryan (drummer) and Edward Newton (piano, Hammond organ).

The album overall has a lively energetic vibe. The songs have catchy lyrics as heard on “Save Your Breath" and “Roll the Dice". The flavor has just a hint of early 80s glam and quite a bit of AOR. Definitely an album to play just for the fun aspect as well as some nostalgia. But something about it did not stick with me. For the hard rock realm I prefer rawness and grit. This seems too perfectly produced and not something I'd opt to listen to very often.
