Architecture of Chaos

Album review by Allyson Kingsley Music Journalist with Boston Rock Radio

Cards on the table, I cannot help but to love the death metal scene and have loved it when it was once underground and unheard of. The rawness of it, shit that stirs your warrior soul, has you headbanging with your fists thrown in the air. Which reminds me that I must make a pilgrimage to the Maryland Death Fest. The band Satanic fully capture that old school death metal sound. Think Entombed, Morbid Angel, Obituary. Music that has you roaring at all the injustices in the world.

The trio that is Satanic are drummer Martin Carle, Guillame Petit, vocalist/ guitarist and Izaac Beaudoin, bassist/vocalist. They originate from Trois-Rivieres in Quebec, Canada, an environment that can be both beautiful yet unforgiving. Recently released album Architecture of Chaos is a brutal and unrelenting beast.

“World of Chaos" and “Architecture of Apocalypse” are two songs that render in a raw vicious manner the question of what the fuck is going on out in the world. My favorite track is “Systematic Fear" with ascending/descending crunching guitars, classic old school blast drumming and notorious guttural vocals. Note the interruption twice in the song of momentary guitar instrumentation.

Some people may say about death metal “I can't understand what they're saying" to which I retort “Open your fucking ears”. You don't just hear what is said, you feel it.
