Falling Through April Zodiac Album Review

Album review by Allyson Kingsley Music Journalist with Boston Rock Radio

Falling Through April is releasing their new album Zodiac on January 19, 2018 via Page 2 Music. This band has a very interesting alt-rock/ pop punk vibe. Forming in 2011 and obtaining front woman Mikaela Salazar in 2016 the Charlotte, NC based band is nothing short of driven with swinging instrumentation, excellent hooks and soaring vocals. The lineup includes Dan Candia (guitar/vocals), Jim Siani (guitar), Dave Piontek(bass/vocals) and Taylor Foster (drums).

As I listened to and watched the video for “Desperate Measures" I was reminded somewhat of Paramore’s style. The video was released in September and also premiered on Alternative Press and debuted at number 13 on the YouTube Alternative Hot list.

The album succeeds across a spectrum of style, both wise and world wary, and exhibits a confident mastery. Songs such as “Better Off Alone" and “With You in Mind" display that the band is well-attuned to the significance that their music has. Along with tight production, the tracks shift smoothly on a whim from one to the other. With its mix of emotion, melody and intricate guitar work, the album rarely missed a beat. The songs were raucous fun, rallying and oddly uplifting and carefree.
